Forecast Snow Stability: Existing snow at lower elevations will start to thaw. Fresh unstable windslab will form in sheltered locations during Thursday. Greatest accumulations will be on steep North-West, North and North-East aspects above 900m. Instabilities will be present in these locations. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will rise during Thursday morning with snow showers above 900 metres. Winds will increase from a Southerly direction. Observed Weather Influences: It has been a cold and dry day with light North-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally stable. Some deep drifts of unconsolidated snow are present in sheltered North-East, East and South-East aspects above 900 metres. Elsewhere there is a thin covering of fresh snow. The avalanche hazard is Low.
