Summary
Early Season Comment
Watch for windslabs in gullied terrain as well as loose dry slides that can affect ice climbing venues in smaller terrain trap features. If there is enough snow to ride there is enough snow to slide. Due to the low snowpack any avalanche involvement will likely have consequences as you will be dragged across rocks which makes the potential for injury high.Â
Early Season Message
Insufficient observations exist to reliably rate the avalanche danger. Expect shallow snow cover with thinly buried rocks and trees just beneath the surface. Avalanche danger often concentrates in gullies and other deposition areas, where wind slabs may bond poorly to a weak underlying base. Deeper snow usually exists at higher elevations. Weather Forecast
Light but steady snowfalls are slowly accumulating the snowpack in the region. Up to 60cm of snow at the upper elevations and still only 10-15cm in valley floor. This week is a mixed bag once again with some sun, scattered flurries and SW winds. Â
