Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

Up to a meter of storm snow and strong southerly winds have buried a touchy surface hoar layer. This layer is very reactive to skier traffic. Natural avalanches have been running long distances, reaching valley bottom and across skiers uptracks.

Wind Slabs

An additional 20 cm of snowfall under the influence of steady strong southerly winds at ridgetop are loading snow onto lee slopes. Expect wind slabs on northerly aspects treeline to alpine. Numerous large or natural avalanches have been observed.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
