Litt regn og milde temperaturer natt til mandag gjør at snødekket trolig ikke har fått nattefrost, som normalt bidrar til å stabilisere snøen. Lite skyer og sterk solinnstråling vil gjøre snøen raskt våt, og det ventes enkelte naturlig utløste skred i bratte solvendte sider.

Snowpack Structure

I lavlandet og kystnære strøk er det stort sett bart, mens i sørvendt terreng når snøgrensa et stykke opp i fjellet. Snødekket er smelteomvandlet, med hard skare om morgenen der nattefrost gir gjenfrysing, men myk og våt overflate fra starten av dagen der dette uteblir.

Tendency

The avalanche danger is largely controlled by local temperature conditions. A solid overnight freeze can provide a short-term stabilising effect, but once the temperatures rise and sunshine weakens the snowpack the avalanche danger increases.

Wet loose avalanches are the most likely problem. Although most of these avalanches are expected to be small, it is important to remember that even small wet loose avalanches can be dangerous in steep and exposed terrain, as they consist of heavy, dense snow.

At higher elevations, there is still layering in the snowpack, and when meltwater penetrates downward, these layers can weaken and produce wet slab avalanches. Such avalanches are difficult to forecast and can be larger than typical loose‑snow avalanches. In addition, glide avalanches may occur where water accumulates above smooth bed surfaces such as rock slabs.
