Mt Hood.
The upcoming weekend storm system is expected to bring heavy rain and wind for the majority of Mt. Hood where we produce avalanche forecasts. The avalanche danger on the upper volcano and out of our forecast area will likely be high due to heavy snow and strong winds. Travel into the alpine is strongly discouraged. An avalanche forecast for this zone will be issued when the snowpack is deep enough to present widespread avalanche potential.

The snowpack on Mt. Hood below 6500' is marginal for avalanche formation. Snowdepths are 8-14" at NWAC stations near tree-line. We have no recent avalanche activity to discuss at this point... like you we are waiting for more snow.
