Central Cascades

No avalanche problems are on the list for Saturday. Stay sharp out there. For people venturing into steep and committing terrain, watch for isolated pockets of unstable snow.

Increasing clouds and wind out of the east will likely keep the snow surface cool tomorrow. 

There have been no recent reports of avalanche activity.

Our early season snowpack is shaping up well. The snowpack is showing good structure. The mid and deep pack are strong. There have been some reports of weak snow in the upper pack from specific areas and are not widespread. They are not a concern now, but any weak layers lingering  will be something we will check on.....a lot can happen between now and the next big storm, and these layer may or may not stick around.

Much of the snow surface is old wind affected snow,  but you may find crust on solar aspects, and even some pockets of preserved powder on cold shaded slopes.

Weather Discussion:

Moving into Saturday, we will see a break from the fair weather, increasing clouds, and possibly get a few inches of snow Saturday evening onto Sunday Morning. It will be a short lived bout of precipitation before moving into drier conditions into early next week.
