Pockets of wind slab formed by predominately southerly winds could be triggered on leeward aspects at the upper elevations. These slabs could be up to 2 feet deep.
Wind slabs that developed at higher elevations late yesterday may be reactive to human triggering today. These wind slabs rest on old snow surfaces that are comprised of hard crusts or weak faceted snow grains. Leeward aspects at higher elevations may be further wind loaded this afternoon as new snow arrives. Evaluate the snow and terrain carefully and consider the consequences of triggering even a small avalanche. Avalanches are unlikely at the mid elevations which lack a sliding surface and have received less snowfall. Lower elevation snow depths are quite shallow.

Moderate to strong winds will continue this evening from the south before veering to the northwest and diminishing as the cold front passes. Snow will become heavier at times with rates around an inch per hour. By morning, expect temperatures in the lower teens with 15-20 mph northwest winds.Expect the avalanche danger to rise to and possibly exceed a Moderate danger rating above 8,000' in the Tetons and above 9,000' in other areas. The potential for natural avalanches in areas where the snowpack is most developed and continuous across the terrain may bring a Considerable rating if we exceed the upper end of the forecasted snowfall totals.
