Snowpack Structure

The northerly wind has transported the fresh and old snow. The snowpack remains unfavourable above approximately 2200 m. Especially wind-loaded slopes where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are dangerous.

Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.

Weak layers exist in the snowpack on shady slopes. As a consequence of new snow and a strong northerly wind, brittle wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as at high altitude. Dry avalanches can still in isolated cases be released, mostly by large loads and reach medium size.
