The snowpack will be well bonded at low and intermediate altitudes. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from easterly directions, clearly visible wind slabs formed in the last two days in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. These can in isolated cases be released by a single winter sport participant. In some cases the avalanches can be released in the various wind slab layers and reach medium size.
In some regions 10 cm of snow fell on Sunday above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of a moderate to strong wind, clearly visible wind slabs formed in the last few days in particular in areas not adjacent to ridgelines. Especially slopes high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: Individual weak layers exist in the centre of the snowpack. In particular sunny slopes low and intermediate altitudes: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften later than the day before.
