At the highest elevations small pockets of shallow wind slab, created by westerly winds, may be encountered on leeward aspects. These slabs could be up to a foot deep and lie upon faceted snow and hard crusts. These slabs could be triggered by a skier or rider and could be a hazard above cliffs, terrain traps and in very steep chutes and couloirs. Monitor conditions and be aware of this avalanche hazard in steep avalanche prone terrain.
