Highlights

Winter is taking its sweet time in coming to Central Oregon.  As long as we have such shallow snow, avalanches will remain unlikely.

Avalanche Discussion

Today I "toured" up Tumalo Butte.  I found continuous snow in open areas above 6,800 ft. but there was never more than 4 inches.  The bowl itself was a bit deeper from previous wind deposition, but as I neared the bottom, lots of little rocks were appearing.  While the mountains have been beautiful, and it is nice to get out, sliding on snow is a bit challenging right now.
