Highlights

Unstable slabs of new, wind drifted snow have formed and will continue to form today. These slabs exist on the same slopes that held a usable base before this storm, where there was deeper snow from wind deposits throughout the winter. If you’re venturing out today, look for low angle terrain without overhead hazard.

With additional snowfall today, and moderate to strong ridgetop winds from the south/southwest, slabs of unstable snow exist on downwind slopes near and above treeline. These are the same slopes that had a usable base prior to this storm.
