Avalanche Activity

More dry slab avalanches are possible above approximately 2500 m.

The new snow and wind slabs of Saturday can still be released in some cases and generally at high altitude. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible above approximately 2300 m. In particular on very steep slopes small and medium-sized avalanches are possible. Backcountry touring and snowshoe hiking call for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and caution.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow of Saturday has settled to a large extent in all aspects. This snow remains in some cases prone to triggering in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak.

Tendency

The danger of dry and moist avalanches will increase during the day.
