Avalanche Activity

The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will soften during the day. As a consequence of the rain, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually.

As the day progresses the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase in all aspects. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In particular on very steep slopes and at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible. Avalanches can be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size. The conditions are unfavourable for backcountry touring and other off-piste activities.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning. Some rain will fall over a wide area. These weather conditions will cause a gradual weakening of the snowpack.

Tendency

Above approximately 1500 m snow will fall over a wide area.
