Persistent weak layers
- All elevations
As a consequence of sharply rising temperatures and significant solar radiation and the westerly wind, a sometimes unfavourable avalanche situation will develop.
As a consequence of sharply rising temperatures and significant solar radiation and the westerly wind, a sometimes unfavourable avalanche situation will develop.
Wet avalanches are possible. Weak layers in the lower part of the snowpack can be released in some places in particular on steep east, south and southwest facing slopes. These can be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain.
Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack.
