The avalanche danger will increase today at upper and mid elevations with heavy snow and strong winds expected. This morning surface slabs to three feet that lie upon crusts,light density snow, and near surface facets could be easily human triggered at high elevations on steep avalanche terrain. At mid elevations, pockets of these slabs to two feet could be triggered on steep, wind loaded terrain on a variety of aspects. This afternoon the size and sensitivity of these slabs will increase rapidly with natural avalanche activity expected at the high elevations and easy human triggers at the mid elevations. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECCOMENDED THIS AFTERNOON. At low elevations isolated pockets of slab could be triggered in the afternoon in steep wind loaded areas. Yesterday skier triggered slides were reported on Twin Slides on Teton Pass and a slide with a three foot crown was triggered near Mile Long Couloir in Granite Canyon. The skier right side of Glory slid as a result of WYDOT control efforts early this morning.
