At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travellers could trigger pockets of surface slab to two feet in depth that were formed during Monday's snow and strong winds. In some areas, the slight potential also persists to trigger deeper instabilities in the snow pack involving buried faceted snow. Larger loads, such as groups of people or snowmobiles are likely necessary to trigger these deeper events. At the low elevations avalanches are unlikely due to a below average snowpack.

The upper level flow is expected to back to the southwest and bring snow to the region. Snow is likely in the morning and will increase in intensity during the day. Ridge crest winds will be southwesterly at 25 with gusts to near 40 miles per hour. Mountain temperatures will rise in the upper single digits to mid teens. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Strong southwest winds and new snow will form new soft slabs on leeward aspects and increase the load on existing instabilities. The potential to trigger slab avalanches will increase as the day progresses.
