The avalanche hazard is Moderate at the high elevations due to the slight chance that remains for large loads to cause full depth hard slabs. It has been a month since such an event. Also at the high elevations, skiers or riders could trigger sluffs or isolated pockets of shallow surface slabs in cliff areas or near ridge crests that lie on the mostly stable snow pack. Avalanches at mid and low elevations are unlikely today.The performance of the play "K2" at the Center for the Arts tonight and Sunday afternoon will benefit the avalanche center.

Light snowfall will continue through Saturday evening, and could be heavy at times, before gradually decreasing by the morning as a flat ridge builds. Moisture overriding this ridge will bring partly to mostly cloudy skies and a chance of light, scattered flurries to the region on Sunday. Overnight lows in the mountain will be in the single digits before rising into the mid teens. Ridgetop winds will be westerly at 10 to 20 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate on Sunday. A slight chance may remain for large loads to trigger full depth avalanches at the upper elevations. Skiers or riders could also trigger loose snow sluffs, and isolated pockets of surface slab up to 18 inches deep, in cliff areas and near ridge crests.
