Highlights

AN AVALANCHE WARNING HAS BEEN ISSUED. Unstable snow exists on a variety of aspects at all elevations. Late yesterday afternoon an avalanche on a steep hillside on the west side of Teton Pass, that does not have a history of avalanche activity, slid, took out trees and closed the highway. In the Snake River Canyon several large slides released naturally and ran long distances across low angle terrain. In the valley several deer triggered a hard slab that hit the road across from Rafter J. With more snow in the forecast and continued wind, large dangerous natural avalanches are likely today. TRAVEL IN AVALANCHE TERRAIN IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
