Avalanche Summary

Snowfall and wind add new snow instabilities back on the avalanche menu. The most dangerous slopes are where you find more than about 8 inches of drifted snow. Look for cracking in the snow surface or places where new snow transitions from softer to firmer as signs of instability and a developing slab. Slopes sheltered from the wind will provide safer travel options.
