Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a small avalanche wherever you find stiff, wind-drifted snow on a steep slope. You are most likely to encounter these conditions on north through east to southeast-facing slopes just below a ridgeline. Even a small avalanche can be dangerous if you are knocked over and dragged into a creek or off a cliff. If you notice cracking in the snow around your feet or the snow feels stiff and hollow, avoid traveling on steep slopes above dangerous terrain.
