Look for small drifts on leeward slopes, as features to avoid. These may not be large enough to bury you, but could release and take you for a ride. Though harder to trigger, avalanches that break deeper in the snowpack are still a concern. You can trigger the entire slope from a shallow spot near rocks, steep rollovers, or the margins of the slab. To help reduce your risk, steer clear of wind-drifted slopes and stick to lower-angle terrain.
