Forecast Snow Stability: Areas of windslab will be found in wind sheltered locations on mainly North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. These are not expected to be particularly extensive. Other aspects will be scoured and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.
Forecast Weather Influences: After a few showers early in the night it will be a dry and settled day. Southerly winds will ease and veer to the North-East. The freezing level will be around 600 metres. Observed Weather Influences: Heavy showers through the day fell as snow above about 600 metres. Strong South-West winds. The freezing level was around 800 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The older snowpack which got soaked yesterday has frozen in the colder conditions. It is hard, icy and stable. Through the day deposits of fresh unstable windslab accumulated in wind sheltered aspects on mainly North to East aspects above 900 metres. On exposed windward aspects the snowpack is hard, icy and stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
