Avalanche forecast

Very little avalanche danger exists as cooler weather has helped to refreeze the upper snowpack. Firm and challenging riding and sliding could have more consequences. Be cautious near cornice edges that may break off and on exposed solar aspects where slick crusts exist.

While enjoying low danger, don't leave all of your caution at home. A small avalanche, while unlikely, in exposed terrain could be a large deal! Cornice edges on North through East aspects still have potential to break off, and a small piece of old wind slab could send you off course in exposed terrain.

Temperatures gradually climbed up to just over 40 degrees in the mountains over the last 5 days.  This warmup produced only harmless, small, D-1, wet loose avalanches on solar aspects. Cooler temps have helped to lock up or stabilize the snowpack.  Avalanche activity and potential should remain scarce but potentially increase small wet loose activity on solar aspects through the day and more so each day through the week as Sun and warmer daytime temps will gradually dominate.
