Avalanche Activity

Precipitation running out.

Thin layers of snow resting on uncovered ground. Possible discharges of small and medium size on steep slopes at higher altitudes.

Snowpack Structure

From a snowological point of view, the situation will always have to be carefully evaluated, especially in alpine terrain (beyond treeline), and in the central-southern sectors due to rising temperatures. In detail: on the Rhaetian sectors and Adamello the trend in the degree of danger will gradually decrease, going from 4 strong to 3 marked. Problems windy snow above 2300 m, with the presence of extensive soft accumulations, fragilely anchored to the basal layers. About Orobie e Prealpi the avalanche danger level will remain 4 strong. This will be due to the greater accumulations of new snow, compared to northern band, and to the temperature trend, which will determine, in the last tail of the disturbance, rain up to 1800-2000 m (with relative moistening and weakening of the snow). The mild temperatures and the persistence of cloud cover will hinder night-time freezing, further weighing down the snow cover. These sectors will be widely affected by neviflow phenomena (downhill sliding of the entire thickness of the mantle, commonly known as "glide").
