Forecast Snow Stability: Large areas of unstable windslab will be present with greatest accumulations on wind sheltered North, North-East and East aspects above 900m. Unstable cornices will also be present above the aspects. Some redistribution of unstable snow onto North-West aspects will occur during the day. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable
Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will ease slightly overnight before picking up again from the South during Friday. After a cold night, the freezing level will rise to around 500m with occasional light snow showers. Observed Weather Influences: After a windy night, the Strong South-Westerly winds slowly eased during the afternoon. Snow showers overnight with the freezing level rising gradually to around 600m. ObservedSnowStability: Large areas of unstable windslab have continued to develop in the strong winds. Greatest accumulations are on wind sheltered North, North-East and East aspects above 900m. Unstable cornice are also developing above these aspects. Natural avalanche activity noted on East facing gullies on Ben Nevis. The avalanche hazard is Considerable
