At the mid and upper elevations backcountry travelers could trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches up to three feet deep in steep, avalanche-prone terrain. While this deep slab instability persists on all aspects, it is most likely to present itself on east to north facing terrain. These slopes may fail after being crossed several times. Be cautious, evaluate the snowpack carefully, and pick your routes wisely. At the lower elevations, avalanches are unlikely.

The weak, upper level ridge overhead is expected to break down overnight as southwest flow develops by Monday morning bringing light, scattered snow showers to the region. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the upper teens before rising into the upper 20s on Monday. Ridgetop winds are expected to back to the south at 20 to 25 miles per hour.Above 8000 feet, the general avalanche hazard is expected to remain MODERATE and slowly rise as new snow increases the load on a weak snowpack .
