Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on weak layers two to three feet below the surface. Triggering these avalanches is possible from a distance and below, so give steep slopes a wide margin. You may not get any warning before you trigger a slide, and multiple people could travel on a slope before you trigger an avalanche at a weak area.

You can find safer riding on lower-angle slopes or those without a buried weak layer.
