Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche where you find more than about eight inches of new or wind-drifted snow on top of old, weak snow. Look for rounded pillows of smooth snow below cornices, ridges, and around gully features. Snow may drift into unusual places with easterly winds. If you observe cracking and collapsing in the snow, you should consider traveling on slopes below 30 degrees or those with less snow.
