Avalanche Summary

Most slopes are generally free of avalanches. If you were to trigger an avalanche, it would be on a slope steeper than about 35 degrees, where winds are drifting snow into stiff, cohesive slabs. You will most likely find this at upper elevations near ridgelines and cross-loaded terrain features. Drifted slabs of snow may have a wave-like appearance, feel stiff, or sound drum-like.
