Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a deadly avalanche where strong winds drift the recent snow. Expect thick slabs that rest on a weak layer buried one to three feet deep. The strong winds will create unusual loading patterns, so anticipate drifted snow further down the slope. While initiating an avalanche in the surface snow might seem manageable, it could step down into a more deeply buried weak layer. Seek slopes less than about 30 degrees for safer travel options.
