Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today and may increase to CONSIDERABLE if significant warming occurs. Strong west winds have formed pockets of slab up to two feet in depth on leeward aspects. These slabs could be triggered today on steep wind loaded aspects. As warming occurs these slabs and wet loose slides will be easier to trigger and could release naturally on steep sunlit aspects. Some potential exists for these slides to step down to deep weaker layers of faceted snow or the ground in steep areas with a shallow snowpack.
