Highlights

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Very strong west winds and new snow have formed DANGEROUS slabs two to four feet in depth on leeward aspects. More snow has fallen on the East side of the Divide where the larger and more sensitive slabs are likely to lie. These slabs are likely to be easily triggered in steep wind loaded starting zones and could step down to buried layers of weak faceted snow. Yesterday four snowmobilers triggered an avalanche in the the Southwest forecast area in which one rider was caught but only partially buried and suffered minor injuries.
