Avalanche Summary

You may be able to trigger an avalanche in drifted snow later in the day as snow accumulates and wind speeds increase. Assess slopes that have more than about 8 inches of drifted snow for signs of instability. If you observe cracking or collapsing, avoid steep drifted areas or stick to lower-angle slopes.
