You may be able to trigger a small avalanche at upper elevations. The best slopes to ride are also where you are most likely to trigger an avalanche. Use care on slopes directly below ridgelines or in steep gullies that hold continuous snow cover. Look out for areas of drifted or dense snow resting over weak snow near the ground. Small avalanches can still take you for a dangerous ride if you are carried over exposed rocks or stumps.
