If you were to look for slopes where you might trigger a small avalanche, it would be on a high-elevation, northerly-facing gully or just below a ridgeline. Avoid traveling on features that feel firm or sound hollow. Even a small avalanche can be dangerous in the early season due to barely buried rocks and stumps.
