Kananaskis.
Our stable snowpack and good weather is allowing trips to the higher, alpine areas. Enjoy the clear skies and easy travel, but also be prepared for difficult skiing.
A chilly start to the day tomorrow. -20C overnight and about -11 as a daytime high. It looks as though the sun will be shining again, which will help it feel warmer if you're lucky enough to be in the sun. The winds will light from the NW. Overall a rather nice winter day.
Nothing new today.
Anyone who has read a Snowpack Summary in the last week can probably sense where this is going...
Widespread wind effect is the major theme for the next while. Until we get more snow, the windslabs will be a problem. The good news is that the cold temps are helping to break them down and the snow stability is fairly good given the widespread nature of the slabs. If the cold does last, remember to check in on the deeper layers as they will start to break down and become weaker.
