Assess steep north and east facing slopes for wind slab before committing
Dry snow can likely still be found on high north facing terrain, but this is also where avalanche hazard may be present
No new avalanches have been reported in this region but observations have been limited.
5 to 15 cm of new storm snow and moderate southwest wind could form new wind slabs throughout the day on Friday. These new wind slabs will overlie 20 to 40 cm of previous storm snow that sits over the early February crust.
A widespread crust and facet layer from late January is buried 30 to 60 cm deep.
The mid and lower snowpack is generally well settled and strong.
