As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible from the late morning. This applies in particular at the base of rock walls as well as below approximately 2700 m. Medium-sized to large natural avalanches are possible especially in starting zones where no previous releases have taken place. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls wind slabs formed. These are to be assessed critically. They can be released, even by a single winter sport participant. In particular on steep shady slopes the avalanches can be released in deep layers of the snowpack and reach large size. Off-piste activities call for careful route selection. Backcountry tours should be started and concluded early.
Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. The wind slabs are poorly bonded with the old snowpack above approximately 2400 m. The surface of the snowpack has frozen to form a strong crust will soften earlier than the day before. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise in the late morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at intermediate altitudes. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, in particular on shady slopes at intermediate and high altitudes.
