Forecast Snow Stability: There will be a general consolidation of the snowpack. However, unstable windslab will persist throughout the period with greatest accumulations on steep open terrain, such as ridge flanks, summit slopes, crag aprons and also in gullies. Most affected will be West through North to East aspects, mainly above 650 metres. Cornices will become fragile. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Dry overnight and through the morning with patchy snow arriving by mid afternoon. The South-West winds will ease in the evening, quickly backing South-East and gradually strengthening strong to gale force in the afternoon. A fluctuating freezing level will gradually rise to near summits by daybreak, then 650 metres briefly before rising above summits mid afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: Early snow showers on a strong South-West airflow eased through the afternoon, with snow settling above 350 metres. The freezing level was around 400 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Significant snow redistribution saw areas of unstable windslab building in wind sheltered locations, Greatest accumulations are on steep open terrain,such as ridge flanks, summit slopes, crag aprons and also in gullies. Most affected are North-West through North to South-East aspects, mainly above 700 metres. Fragile cornices are developing above similar aspects. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
