Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Cooler conditions during Wednesday night will maintain the stable snowpack in all locations and elevations. It may also become a bit more firm and icy. The greatest continuous snow amounts will remain mainly on North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres with patchy cover below this level. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: High pressure dominates across Scotland. Staying generally dry throughout. Freezing level above the summits but clear overnight skies could give some a patchy frost at lower levels. Light winds which will vary in direction strengthening towards the end of the day from a Southerly direction. Observed Weather Influences: It was dry, clear and quite calm but it has remained mild with summit temperature (1100 metres) of plus 2.5 degrees celsius. Winds were light from a South-Westerly direction. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack has consolidated at all levels and is firm and stable. The greatest continuous snow amounts exist mainly on North to Easterly aspects above 850 metres patchy cover below this level. The avalanche hazard is Low.
