Forecast Snow Stability: Snowpack stability will becgenerally good. Remaining cornices present a reduced threat and are mostly stable. The patchy snow cover above around 500 metres will become progressively more firm, icy and extensive with height. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
Snowpack Structure
Forecast Weather Influences: Dry throughout the period with gale force Easterly winds which will ease only slightly by the end of the day. The freezing level will rise from 600 metres in the evening to around 800 metres by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: It was dry throughout the forecast period with very strong to gale force Easterly winds. The freezing level was around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is generally well bonded and stable. Above 500 metres the snow cover is patchy, though more extensive, firm and icy above around 700 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
