Avalanche Activity

Above approximately 2500 m the avalanche prone locations are more widespread.

As a consequence of new snow and wind, mostly small wind slabs formed in particular above approximately 2500 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases in high Alpine regions. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. In particular at low and intermediate altitudes from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities up to 30 cm of snow has fallen since yesterday above approximately 2000 m. In some places new snow and wind slabs are lying on the smooth surface of an old snowpack. The sleet gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.
