Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs above the tree line.

Over a wide area 5 to 15 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 1700 m. The new snow is lying on surface hoar in some places in particular on shady slopes above the tree line. Several small and medium-sized dry loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases above approximately 2000 m. The fresh snow of yesterday as well as the mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above the tree line.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be generally stable. The new snow of yesterday is lying on surface hoar in some places above the tree line. In addition wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects and generally in the high Alpine regions.
