The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days represent the main danger. Snow sport activities outside marked and open pistes call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger.

Up to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. In all aspects avalanches occurred naturally. As a consequence of the southerly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed. On steep sunny slopes the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. As a consequence of solar radiation the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses. The new snow and wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant.

The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.

The weather will be sunny at times.
