On extremely steep sunny slopes small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized dry and moist snow slides are to be expected as the day progresses, in particular at the base of rock walls, and in steep rocky terrain. Little snow fell on Saturday. In addition mostly small wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines on west, northwest and north facing slopes and generally in the high Alpine regions. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures the snow drift accumulations stabilised. They can be released in isolated cases, especially adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas, and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example, in particular on extremely steep slopes.
Adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions a little snow is lying. The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2600 m a little snow is lying. At low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is now lying. Weak layers exist in the old snowpack in all aspects. As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface, in particular below approximately 2300 m on very steep sunny slopes.
In the afternoon as the temperature drops there will be only a very slight increase in the danger of wet avalanches.
