Forecast Weather Influences: Winds will be strong West backing South-Westerly during the day. Freezing level around 800 metres. Some showery precipitation falling as snow and sleet Monday evening but it is expected to be dry thereafter and during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry bright day with gale force South-Easterly winds. Quite cool in the wind, freezing level around 1000 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The old snowpack that now remains is well bonded and stable throughout. Although moist in the surface layers where exposed to the sun it remains firm at depth and in shaded areas. Snow cover is mostly patchy but significant areas of hard snow is present in some gullies, corrie backwalls and summit slopes, mostly above 750 metres on North-West through North to East aspects.
