We have finished producing daily forecasts for the year. Enjoy the SPRING CONDITIONS. Stay up to date on mountain conditions with Parks Mountain Safety and the ACMG's Mountain Condition Report.
Summary
Weather Forecast
Spring weather conditions can easily swing between cold wintery storms and warm summer-like afternoons. Although the snowpack is receding, new storm slabs can develop under the right conditions. Be sure to study the weather forecast before heading into the backcountry.
Snowpack Summary
Melting is happening fast at lower elevations. Expect open creeks in the valley bottoms. The snowpack will become weak with daytime warming, solar input, and rain. Watch the snowpack carefully as the day progresses and be sure to start and end your days early.
Avalanche Summary
Loose wet avalanche continue to be observed with daytime warming.
Confidence
Problems
Loose Wet
Warmer temp's are preventing a strong surface crust to refreeze at night. Strong sun or rain will quickly overcome any strength in the snowpack, causing widespread loose wet avalanches.
Use extra caution on slopes if the snow is moist or wet.Avoid avalanche terrain during periods of rain.
Aspects: All aspects.
Elevations: All elevations.

Wet Slabs
With the warms temps and rain, avalanche activity will surely increase. Without a strong overnight freeze the snowpack will warm & lose its structure. As this happens it can sporadically fail as large destructive wet slab avalanches
Avoid exposure to overhead slopes with Glide Cracks. Avalanches may reach the end of run out zones.Avoid avalanche terrain during periods of heavy rain.
