Avalanche Activity

Wet and gliding snow require caution.

The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night. As the day progresses as the penetration by moisture increases there will be a gradual increase in the danger of wet and gliding avalanches. At any time small and medium-sized wet and gliding avalanches are to be expected. This applies in all aspects and in all altitude zones. Moist avalanches can be released by people or triggered naturally. In particular on very steep shady slopes the gliding avalanches can be released in the faceted old snow and reach large size in some cases. Ski touring and snowshoe hiking call for defensive route selection.

Snowpack Structure

The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to rapid moistening of the old snowpack on shady slopes in all altitude zones. In the past few hours several medium-sized avalanches were observed. Until Sunday the weather will be very mild. Saturday: Some rain will fall in the evening.

Tendency

The conditions remain spring-like. The danger of wet and gliding avalanches will persist.
