Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of the solar radiation, the likelihood of moist and wet avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on steep sunny slopes above approximately 2000 m.

Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular on sunny slopes. These conditions will facilitate a gradual weakening of the near-surface layers as the day progresses in particular on sunny slopes. Above approximately 2000 m small and medium-sized moist and wet avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

In particular sunny slopes are especially unfavourable. Moist and wet avalanches can also be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size.
